Request Installer Test Panels

Test Our Peel & Stick Before Recommending It

Professional installers should not have to risk their reputation on an unfamiliar material. Request two American Decals peel-and-stick panels and evaluate them using your own tools, techniques, wall surfaces, seam methods, and adhesives.

Why Are We Offering Test Panels?

We understand that many wallpaper installers have had poor experiences with peel-and-stick vinyl. Stretching during installation, post-installation shrinkage, opening seams, unpredictable adhesives, and customer-supplied materials can turn a straightforward project into an unnecessary risk.

ESSENTIAL, SIGNATURE, and PREMIUM are polyester wallcoverings—not conventional peel-and-stick vinyl films. Based on more than a decade of our own printing, handling, installation, and long-term use, these polyester materials remain dimensionally stable and do not exhibit the post-installation shrinkage associated with conventional vinyl film.

We do not expect you to accept that claim without testing it yourself.

What Will I Receive?

Approved professional installer requests will receive two peel-and-stick test panels for material evaluation. Material selection and availability will be confirmed after we review the request.

The panels are intended to help you evaluate:

  • Material construction and flexibility
  • Printed color and surface finish
  • Opacity and wall coverage
  • Pressure-sensitive adhesive behavior
  • Repositioning during installation
  • Retained overlap seams
  • Professional double-cut seams on polyester materials
  • Compatibility with Roman E-Z Hang
  • Compatibility with clear wallpaper paste
  • Dimensional stability after installation

PLEASE NOTE

Test panels are supplied for professional material evaluation. Requests are reviewed before fulfillment. Material availability, panel specifications, shipping arrangements, and eligibility will be confirmed directly with the installer.

What Should I Test?

1. Handling and Positioning

Evaluate how the material handles during alignment, release-liner removal, repositioning, smoothing, and trimming. Compare its behavior with other self-adhesive wallcoverings you have installed.

2. Retained Overlap

Align the printed pattern using the supplied overlap and observe the finished seam. Very light designs can make doubled material more noticeable, while darker or detailed patterns generally disguise overlaps more effectively.

3. Professional Double Cut

ESSENTIAL, SIGNATURE, and PREMIUM may be professionally double-cut. Use a seam-cutting strip to protect the wall and observe whether the seam remains closed after installation.

Do not double-cut CANVAS. CANVAS is textured vinyl and must retain its supplied overlap.

4. Adhesive Compatibility

Test the material using the installation method you would recommend for a customer:

  • Roman E-Z Hang Peel & Stick Helper
  • Compatible supplemental adhesive
  • Compatible clear wallpaper paste

ESSENTIAL has a very low-tack backing and requires Roman E-Z Hang or another compatible supplemental adhesive. ESSENTIAL, SIGNATURE, and PREMIUM may be installed with compatible clear wallpaper paste.

Do not install CANVAS with traditional wallpaper paste.

5. Dimensional Stability

Inspect the panels and seams after installation. Check them after 24 hours, 48 hours, and several days when possible. Observe whether the material or seam changes as it settles.

6. Wall and Paint Compatibility

Test on the type of painted surface commonly encountered in your projects. Pressure-sensitive adhesives can respond differently to low-VOC, stain-resistant, washable, scrubbable, antimicrobial, or silicone-containing coatings.

ESSENTIAL must only be evaluated on a clean, smooth, properly painted wall. It is not compatible with textured walls.

Before Testing

  • Document the paint brand, paint line, sheen, and approximate curing time.
  • Use a separate test area for each adhesive method.
